Where to eat
Everybody knows that Western Emilia's cooking tradition is unrivaled. Just think of the Prosciutto di Parma PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), of the Salame di Felino, of the Coppa Piacentina PDO and of the king of all cheeses: the Parmigiano Reggiano PDO!
The many restaurants offer a wide selection of traditional foods, from the "Anolini" of Parma to the "Pisarei e fasö" from Piacenza. Everything combined with excellent wines, such as the CDO (Controlled Designation of Origin) Wines of the Colli Piacentini ( Gutturnio, Barbera, Bonarda, Ortrugo, …), and of the Colli di Parma (Malvasia, Souvignon, Rossi dei Colli, ...).
Particularly interesting is the cooking tradition of the mountain areas, that in the last years found traditional dishes again, prepared with chestnuts, mushrooms and with the ancient "pecora cornigliese".
